About Spirals

Spirals Gymnastics is a Family Owned Business.

Jima King introduced her parents, Jack and Tina Richie, and her sister, Julie Richie, to gymnastics when she embarked on a competitive gymnastics career at age 10. After graduating from college, Jima decided teaching gymnastics was a logical career choice for her to stay active in the sport she loved, and the family continued to be involved. Abbey and Grayson Watson, Jima’s children, joined the family in 1992 and 1995.

Spirals Gymnastics was founded in 1982 and has been at its current location in Mansfield, TX since 1994. Our location is equipped with 40 ft by 40 ft carpeted and padded spring floor exercise areas, above ground pits for safety training, additional mats and padded equipment, and specially designed equipment for the preschool program. USA approved girls gymnastics equipment for the development of the competitive gymnastics programs are available.

We continue to grow beyond what we ever could have imagined.

In 2002, we added a 27 x 54 ft. swimming pool to the facility. Shortly after this expansion we created Ed-venture Camp, combining what we think are the most exciting things to do in the summer… swimming, horse-back riding, sports, games, and hanging out with friends!

In 2005, Spirals began after school care. We now have 6 vans and a thriving After School Ed-venture Program. Our program differs from that of other after school programs because we have so much to offer: sports, games, rope swings, trampolines, and, of course, an opportunity to learn gymnastics!

Shortly after the after school expansion, our head swimming instructor, Aaron Samano, tied two noodles together and created the now very successful Swim P.A.L.S. The system is unique because it allows beginner swimmers to maintain correct body position, even if they don’t know how to float yet! This was very ground-breaking for our swimming program.

In 2012, we expanded our Mother’s Day Out program from 2 days to 5, and renamed our private pre-school Ed-venture Kids Academy. We now have a full-day pre-school program that focuses on academic readiness and motor skills.

In 2012, Spirals celebrated 30 years and a new name: Spirals Gym and Ed-venture Kids Center. In 2022, Spirals celebrates 40 years in business. We now have third-generation customers!

In the Fall of 2015, we opened a new location and founded Spirals Gym and Cheer Company. This has been our greatest expansion yet! The new building is 100% air-conditioned facility and includes a 42′ X 54′ spring floor, 40′ X 40′ gym floor, 40′ rod floor, 40′ in-ground tumbling track, in-ground pits and two trampolines for training. We began cheer and a tumbling for cheer program that focuses on the foundations of tumbling technique and conditioning.

Spirals offers a professional program to push each individual student to his or her highest possible level of achievement. In order to do this, our class structure is based on a student’s level of accomplishments with a small student to coach ratio. This allows our coaches to give individual instruction as well as group supervision. Each of the programs at Spirals strives to go above and beyond with each child. Whether it’s gymnastics, swimming, pre-school, or camp, we enjoy helping children grow and achieve their personal goals.
